Brooke has been wanting to get her ears pierced for some time now. I told her she could once she was at least five years old. She would have done it on her 5th birthday the first second she could, but fear held her back ;). So after another year of going back and forth, she finally decided to do it! Brooklyn may be apprehensive and even scared of many things she is unsure of, but when she sets her mind to something, she can get over any fear she has. I didn't push her into it all, but said if that's what she wanted, it would be our birthday present to her. Daddy got the day off after her birthday and we went to the mall. First I had an eye appointment to get new contacts, but I took a "before"picture of her while we were waiting (see above). The kids said this (going to the Lenscrafters) was the VERY boring part of the day :). Then we played some in the mall kiddie area, petted puppies in the pet store and finally went to Claires. I actually was trying to find a tattoo/piercing place that would do her ears because using a needle by a trained professional sounded much better than a high schooler pushing a blunt earring through her ear with a plastic gun, but no place would pierce her until she was 16 years old. It still doesn't make sense to me, but apparently that's the law around these here parts.
Anyway, she did great. She was brave and didn't back out of the second ear getting done. There were a couple of tears, and then she said a few minutes later that it was no big deal and the earrings haven't bothered her since. Here are her "after" pictures below while we were having lunch at Red Robins...
We ended our time at ToysRUs to spend some rewards we had earned up. The big girls both got to pick out a little toy, and of course, Daddy bought some super heroes! 'Twas a lovely day! The babies were even pretty easy and happy the whole time.
